Post subject: Reaction to Urticating Hairs
Archived from groups: alt>pets>arachnids (more info?)

Hi
My husband has 28 Tarantulas varying from various Brachypelmas, poecilitus,
and many more. Unfortunately once in a pet shop i was flick by a Brachypelma
Smithi hair when the shop owner opened it house for someone to have a look.
I had a slight reaction.
Cleaning out some of my husbands spiders the other week i must of come into
contact again and this time have had a serious reaction. I treied the normal
anti histamine such as piriton but had to go on to a much stronger type of
168mg prescribed by doctor. I fthis doesn't work i may have to go on to oral
steroids.
Apart from the obvious of not coming into contact with the hairs again.
Has anyone had a similar experience or any recommended anti histamine that
has worked particular well for them.
Ever suffering L Stone
